A large part of the information dissemination about Norris was through press releases, which were then adapted by newspapers.
The first of the two press releases showcased here was authored by Earle Draper, the director of Land Planning and Housing at the TVA in February 1934. Given that the town of Norris was being constructed at the time, the press release talks about the objectives of Norris in addition to talking about the various kinds of houses in Norris. The press release also contains information about the construction techniques and technology.
The second press release was also authored by Draper. However, its tone differs in that this was issued much before construction began and hence contains information about the rationale of choosing the site for the town of Norris, in addition to initial ideas about what the town might look like.
